Alright, time to start my rant. I like this song and all- but Alanis' new album is BRILLIANT and there are far better singles to release from this album. Why not release 'Straitjacket' or 'Giggling Again', or the brilliant ballads 'Tapes' or 'Not As We'. I really don't understand these single choices to save my life. There are differing leaks out there regarding the track list for Rock Band 2. Both are unattributed, one to a friend of a friend who got a look at an email from Harmonix to MTV or something. But in the interest of rumormongering, we'll repeat both with the caveat that there is no way of knowing if this stuff is for real or not. But if, combined, they're half right then this could be one hell of a track list, possibly the best of any rhythm game. Also, an IGN Insider interview (tran
As the Poet Laureate of Skid Row observed in years past: "Bad taste creates many more millionaires than good taste." Charles Bukowski I'm not sure he was thinking of MTV's Video Music Award Show with that reflection, since the VMA has contributed to both beauty and grace and stress nightmares interchangeably. A few tidbits: Madonna writhing on the stage floor in a tattered Mrs. Haversham wedding dress; Eminem marching in a choir of menacing Aryan hip-hoppers; Michael J
Yeah, I?m gonna need you to check out Newton Faulkner?dreamcatchme And also Adele?Chasing Pavements And I hear the new Coldplay is fantastic (oh, Chris Martin, you are skinny but maybe you could fix me!) Now, let?s talk about the best of all, Alanis Morissette, Flavors of Entanglement. Oh, she is my hero! It has been pretty well documented that these songs were penned after the break up of her engagement to Ryan Reynolds.? Seriously. Van Wilder?!? Oh well, who am I to judge??
[ music | Alanis Morissette - Ironic ] I probably shouldn't be enjoying Boing Boing's implosion of credibility as much as I am. And I probably wouldn't if it weren't for Boing Boing's incredibly lame defense. "It's our blog and so we made an editorial decision, like we do every single day. We unpublished our own work." What Boing Boing fails to realize is that this damages their credibility. You can no longer count on Boing Boing standing by what they've said. Sure opinions change
There might not be many reasons to pretend that anything happened before the 80s, but here?s one of them: Roy Harper?s 1971 album Stormcock, now being released for the first time in the US by KOCH distrubution and London?s Cadiz music. Of course, most people in the US have no idea who Roy Harper is (and no, he?s not related to Ben Harper). And when someone is described as a ?folk hero? we?re more likely to picture some long-haired dude using his six-string to fight off terrorists

* P. Diddy loves his Hancock (I'm talking about the movie, perv). * Jean Claude Van Damme? Or Danny Bonaduce? I can't tell... * Alanis Morissette + Karaoke = MySpace Contest! * Surprise, surprise - Mariah & Nick might already be on the rocks. * Lily Allen says she will quit singing if her new album sucks. (Erm, we've heard this from 50 Cent before, and he's still going at it. Celebrities and their false promises, eh?) * Man, I suddenly wish I were Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bet
Filed under: Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Rhythm A second partial Rock Band 2 setlist, supposedly culled from a playtest, popped up on the ScoreHero Forum recently, only to be removed and its author disciplined by a moderator. Lucky for you, a Joystiq tipster (thank you!) slipped a crumpled note into our back pocket with the same list: "Man in the Box" - Alice in Chains "We Got The Beat" - The Go Go "American Woman" - The Guess Who? (or Lenny Kravitz) "White Wedding" -

Robbie Daw presents a weekly pop music update here on Towleroad! Robbie runs his own site called Chart Rigger. Jay-Z headlined England's famed Glastonbury festival on Saturday, a controversial move given the rock-heavy bill the event usually touts. Perhaps no one was more vocal about their disdain for Hova as headliner than Noel Gallagher of Oasis: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance." In tur
Remember Suzanne Vega? ?Do do do do do do doo, do do do do do do do doo??? No? Okay, how about ?My name is Luka, I live on the second floor?? Ahhh, are we on the same page now? Good. I mentioned the Sundance channel?s ?Live From Abbey Road? series last week when Kate Nash was the guest. Well, this Thursday Suzanne is the special guest and she?ll be performing selections from Solitude Standing, including ?Luka? and ?Tom?s Diner? (the do do do do do do doo song). You can see a prev

You might not expect a luxury brand that is a global symbol of cosmopolitan fashion to choose MySpace to target their market. But the market is there and so is Cartier; the French brand known for their exclusive $10,000 watches, clocks and diamonds. The Cartier ad campaign includes a link to a Cartier mini-site where you can download free music by Lou Reed, Phoenix, Marion Cotillard, and others. Mercedes-Benz USA has used the free music download marketing strategy for several year
The DCeiver would like to wish all of the good people of Canada a Happy Canada Day. We have always been big fans of your country, your job-providing media bloggers like Rachel Sklar, your hockey and poutine and rational health care policies, your picturesque cities as shot by Douglas Coupland, your Atom Egoyan movies, your comedy legends, your Cadence Weapons, Arcade Fires, Broken Social Scenes and Stars (and even your Glass Tigers!). But most especially, we thank you, Canada for yo
Belinda Neal Shoots Straight To The Top Of Our 'Do Not Mess With' List Man, next time I go out for a bender, I'm taking the delightfully feisty Federal MP Belinda Neal with me. Now there's a woman who knows how to get what she wants, and isn't afraid to (allegedly) spit in someone's face to get it. It seems Belinda Neal just had a wee scuffle with the folks from A Current Affair, and the police were called. Ben Fordham, the "reporter" whose important job requires him to have deft
It?s Canada Day today. And, we here in Canada are enjoying some BEAUTIFUL ? hot but breezy ? weather! Lots of walking, lots of relaxing, chilling by the park pool, sipping a LOVELY Starbucks Soy Chai Tea Latte?. And, then I had to go to work. Yes. SOMEBODY in this big ole country had to work today. That?s right. I had to teach yoga over at the studio smack-dab in the middle of the day. A mommy and baby class. LOVE! OF COURSE, no one showed up because all the moms FOSHIZZLE handed
